Standards

Editorial Standards

SMB transaction content should be useful enough to change the reader’s questions without pretending that a general article can decide a specific deal.

Direct answer first

Articles should answer the reader’s question early, define the transaction concept in plain language and then explain the evidence and exceptions that change the answer.

Evidence over authority theater

We do not treat a credential, brand name or generic benchmark as a substitute for the records in the transaction. Examples and frameworks should be labeled as illustrative when they are not deal-specific findings.

SMB-specific language

Content should translate enterprise diligence concepts into the economics of smaller private companies: SDE, owner labor, customer concentration, working capital, equipment, lease risk and transferability.

Material limitations stay visible

Educational content does not constitute an audit, valuation appraisal, legal opinion, investment advice, lending decision or assurance that a transaction is safe.

Update standard

Material content should be reviewed when laws, tax rules, lending programs, market practices or other time-sensitive assumptions change.

Good educational content improves the questions. Transaction evidence determines the answer.
